Gifts & Memorials There are many options if you are interested in giving a gift to the library or planning a memorial for a loved one.  Please include the brochure below with your donation.  Feel free to contact the library if you have any questions or individualized needs. Amazon Smile Help the Friends of the Germantown Community Library as you shop online. Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the Friends of the Germantown Community Library whenever you shop on AmazonSmile. Simply select “Friends of the Duerrwaechter Memorial Library” when selecting your charitable organization.
All donations will go to support the Friends that provides funding for library programs, technology, and other projects that are not covered by normal staffing
and budget.

The library accepts newborn baby hats year-round for the CLICK for Babies Campaign.  Visit the website for sizing and color guidelines.

  • 2018: 352 hats collected
  • 2017: 407 hats collected
We will also take donations through out the year of hats of any color for babies 0-12 months.  These hats will be used for our Baby Lifelong Learning Welcome Bag program! Any extra hats or hats that do not meet the specific requirements will be donated to the Kids’ Closet in Germantown and other local organizations.
(CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE) Bakers Brigade The Germantown Community Library is looking for a few good bakers to join our Bakers Brigade to be on call on a rotating basis to make desserts for library special events.   Sign-up at the library or click here for our volunteer form and email to Lynn at
(CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE) Donation of Material Donations of used books, DVDs and music CDs are accepted throughout the year.  These items are evaluated by library staff for our collection and then given to the Friends for their Holiday Book & Basket Sale in November/December and Used Book Sale in March.  Please bring all items to the Circulation Desk.  We can provide a tax receipt upon request. Restrictions include:
  • No moldy, smelly, or water damaged items
  • No records, VHS tapes, or cassette tapes
  • No National Geographic magazines
  • No encyclopedias (e.g. Britannica)
  • No software or CD-ROMS
  • No textbooks

(CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE) Volunteer Opportunities The Germantown Community Library welcomes the Gift of Time from qualified volunteers. As a library volunteer you will have an opportunity to connect with your community, provide valuable services, meet new people, and expand your library knowledge and skills.  If you are interested in being a volunteer at the library and have at least 2 hours a week to share, click here for our volunteer form.  Please contact the library if you have any questions or individualized needs.
