The Monarch Catalog allows you to search the items that are held in Germantown Community Library, as well as all 33 libraries in Dodge, Ozaukee, Sheboygan and Washington counties.

Hoopla is a media streaming platform for digital audiobooks, comics, e-books, movies, music, and television shows.  All items can be checked out for free with your Germantown Community Library Card.  Hoopla items are available with no holds or wait time. Patrons are limited to 5 items per month per library card. Subscription for Germantown Community Library card holders.  Other areas may be limited.



Wisconsin’s Digital Library (OverDrive) is a collection of downloadable eBooks, audiobooks, videos & magazines. This a free service that can be used with many types of devices.

Update: As of February 8, 2021, a collection of 3,000+ digital magazine titles is now available in Overdrive/Libby.   Titles include The Economist, Food Network Magazine, HGTV,  National Geographic, The New Yorker,  Women’s Day & more! Magazines can be checked out for free with a Germantown Community Library (or Monarch Library System) Card.  There are no holds or limits on this collection.

  • Meet Libby – a fresh and easy way to borrow and read ebooks and audiobooks from Overdrive.  Libby is a free app – all you need to access 1000s of titles is your library card!

NEW IN 2023!! Universal Class offer hundred of free online continuing education classes.  They include lessons, exams, assignments, discussion boards and actual assessments of our progress. has the option of All courses are self-paced and can be started at anytime.  Most courses also have the option to complete the course through video audit.

Universal Class can be accessed by patrons with their library card in two ways:

  1. Download the free Libby app or access libbyapp.com on a desktop computer – If this is your first-time using Libby app or visiting libbyapp.com, follow the prompts to find your library and enter your library card number. After you are signed in, click the building icon at the bottom of the screen: Scroll down to the EXTRAS section, find Universal Class, and click “GET”. You will then be redirected to Universal Class. Log in here with library card and you will have immediate access to classes! (Please note: Universal Class is not available through OverDrive website).
