  • Family Craft Circle

    Stop in the 1st Thursday of the month anytime from 4:00 – 7:30 p.m. for a variety of different crafts.  Crafts are geared towards ages 5 to 11, but all ages are welcome to attend.

    • May 2: Star Wars (and other) Perler Beads

    • August 1: Pony Bead Creatures
    • September 5: Back-to-School German Schultüte

    Due to the 4th of July, we will have no family craft circle on Thursday, July 4.  Feel free to visit us at the July 4th celebration at Fireman’s Park in Germantown for crafts and activities throughout the day!

  • Ancora String Quartet

    ANCORA STRING QUARTET (Tuesday, September 10 @ 6:00 p.m.)

    The Ancora String Quartet returns to the library this fall.  Verdi, Puccini, and Donizetti: three great Italian composers known for their many masterpiece operas.  However, each one also wrote beautiful works for string quartet as well. This fall, the Ancora Quartet’s program consists of three such works: Verdi’s String Quartet in E minor, Donizetti’s Quartet No. 7 in F Minor, and Puccini’s “Chrysanthemums” in C-sharp minor.  Come hear how vocal and dramatic four string players can be!

    Join us from 10:30 – 11:15 a.m. for stories, bubbles, chalk, and meet & greet with Disney princesses on the library’s outdoor patio.  We will have 2-3 different princesses on each day. In case of inclement weather program will be held in the storytime room.

    VOLUNTEERING IS “EASY AS PIE!” (Monday, September 16 @ 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.)

    Becoming a volunteer with Interfaith Caregivers is “Easy as Pie!”  Stop by our table in the lobby and find out how easy it is and enjoy a piece of pie on us!  We guarantee that the “sweetest” part of volunteering for Interfaith won’t be the pie, it will be the difference you’ve made by helping someone in your community.  The senior you will help will be so grateful, you’ll be back for another serving. Learning about Interfaith Caregivers and what you can do to make a difference in Washington County.

    The library will be hosting technical support consultations from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.  Please register by stopping by the Reference Desk calling the library at (262) 253-7760 or emailing William at wkressin@germantownlibrarywi.org.  Make sure to include the topic of your question so we can be prepared with instructions.  Can’t make the scheduled times?  Let us know and we can work to find a time that meets your scheduling needs.

    Some examples of questions include using library databases, downloading eBooks or eAudiobooks through Overdrive/Libby or RB Digital, using a tablet, setting up an email account, research assistance, genealogy research, signing up for Gale Courses, and printing.

  • Germantown: A History

    GERMANTOWN: A HISTORY PRESENTED BY BILL GAY (Tuesday, September 17 @ 6:00 p.m.)

    Whether you’re an old-timer or a transplant, you’ll learn new things about Germantown and the original settlement of Dheinsville.  The chairman of the Germantown High School English department for thirty-five years, Bill retired to devote himself to writing, travel, and volunteering.  He is a life member of three historical societies, and plays the piano when he is not reading, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Bill’s third book on the history of Germantown will be released this fall.

    OUTSMART THE SCAMMERS (Thursday, September 19 @ 3:00 p.m.)

    Incidents of fraud are on the rise, and scammers’ tactics are becoming more complex.  Join Jon Hafemann, Financial Advisor for Edward Jones for an informational presentation to give you the information you need to Outsmart the Scammers.  During the program, we’ll discuss how to spot certain red flags that may indicate a fraudulent encounter, resources individuals can turn to in the event they or loved ones are targeted, and steps attendees can take to help protect themselves and loved ones.  To reserve space for yourself and a guest at the educational workshop, please call the library at (262) 253-7760 or sign-up through the library website no later than September 12.

    FAMILY FRONTIER DAY @ PIONEER VILLAGE (Saturday, September 28 @ 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.)

    Join Monarch libraries for a day at Pioneer Village in Saukville, WI!  This fun-filled event, held rain or shine, is FREE and for all ages. Family Frontier Day @ Pioneer Village offers many indoor and outdoor activities such as period craft demonstrations, exploring buildings dating from the 1840s, pioneer games, storytime, and a scavenger hunt.  Located at: Ozaukee County Pioneer Village 4880 Cty Rd I (Saukville, WI). Lunch will be available for purchase from the Ozaukee County Historical Society. Menu includes a hot dog, soda, water, and a cookie for $5.00
