    We have a variety of cool critters in Wisconsin!  Learn more about the wildlife neighbors in our urban areas and those that are rarely seen in Wisconsin with Dianne Robinson from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.  Question & answer session and reception to follow.

    The Morning Book Group meets the 2nd Thursday of each month from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. in the library’s large meeting room. Join us for some interesting reading and lively conversation.  No registration is required. All are welcome!  Free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate provided by the Friends of the Germantown Community Library!

    Visit our website or stop by the Reference Desk for specific dates and individual titles.

    Copies of the selected books are available at the Circulation Desk. Please bring your library card to check out a copy.

    WWI Exhibit Ends

    WORLD WAR I TRAVELING EXHIBIT

    Over 122,000 Wisconsin men and women served on land, sea, and in the air during World War I.  The traveling exhibit World War I Beyond the Trenches: Stories from the Front will be on display at the Germantown Community Library from Thursday, May 30 – Friday, June 14.  This exhibit from the Wisconsin Veterans Museum includes 16 banners and details first person accounts of individuals in Wisconsin that played a role in shaping global history.

    Join the library at the Germantown Farmer’s Market this summer from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  We will have a variety of different activities each week including kid’s crafts, bubbles, chalk, giant games, character visits, and books for sale as well as information about library programs and services.

    UPDATE: Due to the weather, we have decided to move the Summer Reading Kick-Off Party to the Germantown Community Library.  We will still have all of the fun activities planned, but this will give us more flexibility if it rains.  We appreciate your understanding and hope to see you on Saturday!

    Find out what is happening at your library this summer and enjoy a Princess Storytime (1:30 – 2:15), music by Randy Peterson (2:00 – 2:45), Life-sized games, crafts, facepaint, bouncy houses and more!  All ages are welcome.

    Book Fair Starts

    Usbourne Books offers a huge variety of books for babies through teenagers.  Books can be purchased in the library or online through our website or facebook page.  30% of all sales goes to support future programs and materials in the youth services department.

     

    Battle of the Books Meeting

    The Germantown Community Library is participating in our first Battle of the Books competition.  Open to students ages 11 – 18.  Individuals and their teams (up to 5 members) read and compete in their knowledge of characters, plots, settings, and events in the books.  Your library’s winning team will compete against teams from other local libraries at the Final Competition at the Lomira Quad/Graphic Community on Friday, July 26 @ 1:00 p.m.  If you are not able to attend the informational meeting, please contact the library at (262) 253-7760 or email Jackie at jkolo@germantownlibrarywi.org.  Copies of each title can be found at the Youth Services Desk or online: https://germantownlibrarywi.org/teen-programs/

    Join us for stories, movement and music geared for preschoolers. Storytime is a great way to introduce growing kids to books, social interaction and lifelong learning!

    The library will be hosting technical support consultations from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.  Please register by stopping by the Reference Desk calling the library at (262) 253-7760 or emailing William at wkressin@germantownlibrarywi.org.  Make sure to include the topic of your question so we can be prepared with instructions.  Can’t make the scheduled times?  Let us know and we can work to find a time that meets your scheduling needs.

    Some examples of questions include using library databases, downloading eBooks or eAudiobooks through Overdrive/Libby or RB Digital, using a tablet, setting up an email account, research assistance, genealogy research, signing up for Gale Courses, and printing.
