Calling all home canners! Holly Baird, an award winning canner, will cover the basics of canning. She includes dos and don’ts and helpful canning tips so you can get the most out of your garden.  Presentation begins at 6:00 p.m. with question & answer session and reception to follow.

    Please join us for an information meeting regarding the Adult Literacy Partnership between the Germantown Community Library and the Adult Literacy Center of Ozaukee County.  We are seeking adult learners in the community that will be provided one-on-one tutoring to improve English (ESL), complete GED requirements, and/or improve reading comprehension.  We are also looking for adult tutors to volunteer about two hours per week.  Training will be provided by the Adult Literacy Center.

    Monarch butterfly expert Shelly Culea returns to the Germantown Community Library to discuss how to raise your own Monarch butterfly. Now is the time to see live examples of Monarch eggs, larva, caterpillar, and chrysalis which will be on display. Don’t miss it!

    Help Wisconsin babies by making baby hats for the Period of Purple Crying.  We will have demonstrations and give-a-ways.  Bring your patterns and share our favorites.

    The library will be accepting donations of hats and supplies through October 1, 2018.

    9:30 - 10:00 a.m.: Cleaning & Servicing of Hearing Aids (no appointment needed)

    9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.: Hearing Screens (call Chenoa James at 262-502-1799 to schedule an appointment)

    Free Blood Pressure Screens

    If not on-call, the Germantown Fire Department will be available to provide free blood pressure screens on the 1st Tuesday of every month from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.  No appointment is needed, but please feel free to call the library at 262-253-7760 that morning to see if the Fire Department is available.

    Meet Polly Huenink-Schellinger, Registered Nurse and Clinical Aromatherapist, as she discusses the health benefits of essential oils and aromatherapy. Topics will include safety, proper dilution, definition of essential oils and quality prerequisites. Polly will cover using essential oils and aromatherapy for stress, depression, boosting your immune system and improving your overall physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.  Bring your questions!
